Young people desperately looking for a job

AMS statistics show an increase in unemployment in March. Speed dating" is intended to help young people find a new job at the tourism job exchange.

The situation on the labor market reflects the current economic situation: unemployment is rising and the number of vacancies is falling. 21,565 Carinthians were registered as unemployed in March. "The sharp decline in job vacancies of 32.8 percent is striking. This is disproportionately attributable to temporary employment. The sharpest decline in vacancies is in the metal/electrical sector," says Peter Wedenig, Managing Director of AMS Carinthia.

Increase among young people
The number of unemployed people under the age of 25 has risen significantly. Here, 1656 people are registered as unemployed. That is an increase of 23.6 percent. 414 young people are looking for an apprenticeship.

One successful initiative to bring job seekers and companies together is the tourism job fair on April 9 (from 9 a.m.) at the Chamber of Commerce in Klagenfurt. More than 50 catering and hotel businesses will be on site offering around 500 jobs. Several job interviews can be held within a few hours and application documents can be handed in straight away.
