2nd league - 18th round
5:0! Ried shoots itself out of crisis against Stripfing
SV Ried haven't forgotten how to win after all - the team from the Innviertel region got their first win of 2024 in the 18th round of the 2nd division! And with a 5:0 win against SV Stripfing, they did so very clearly.
Aside from this resounding victory, FAC remain the first runners-up to the superior league leaders GAK. The Viennese won 1:0 at home against the second team of Sturm Graz. Third-placed DSV Leoben are level on points with the Viennese side after a 1-0 win at bottom-of-the-table Amstetten.
Nermin Haljeta was the match-winner for the Floridsdorfer at the FAC pitch with his goal in the 78th minute. It was the fourth win in the last five rounds.
Ex-Rapidler Alar scores Leoben's golden goal
There was also only one highlight in the form of a goal to be seen in Amstetten. It was scored by veteran striker Deni Alar after exactly one hour and was the ex-Rapidler's 13th goal of the season in his 13th match. The 34-year-old also scored five times in the Cup. Leoben are unbeaten in 13 competitive games and celebrated their sixth win in a row. This was despite striker Cheikhou Dieng being shown the red card in the 44th minute after a rude tackle on Dominik Starkl.
After two defeats, the Rieder once again had reason to celebrate. Wilfried Eza with a brace (9th, 52nd), Fabian Wohlmuth (14th), Arjan Malic (47th) and David Bumberger (72nd) added their names to the scoresheet in the Innviertel. It was Stripfing's fourth defeat in a row, adding to their worries about their license for the coming season.
