Dream threatens to burst! Wels loses in the first leg
The dream of reaching the final of the European Table Tennis Cup for the second time since 2021 is now difficult to realize for the men from Wels. They suffered a heavy defeat against Dzialdowo on Wednesday.
The home side were beaten 1:3 at home to the Polish club Dzialdowo on Wednesday evening. As a result, the Upper Austrians have bad cards for the second leg in Poland on Saturday.
The 3-1 defeat of Jiri Martinko, who lost the third and fourth rounds against Konishi Kaii after equalizing the set, was decisive. After Dzialdowo went 2:1 up, their top player Jonathan Groth managed his second win of the evening. After beating Maciej Kolodziejczyk 3:0, the Dane finished off the match by defeating Andreas Levenko 3:1. Levenko scored the hosts' only point with a 3:1 win over Jakub Dyjas to open the match.
