Fake crime
Cobra operation: men threatened woman with a weapon
Dramatic emergency call in Villach: A 54-year-old woman alerted the police because two armed men had threatened to kill her in her apartment. The arrest followed. The next day everything turned out differently ...
The woman called the emergency services in panic on Monday evening shortly before 6 p.m.: two men were in her apartment in Villach and were threatening to kill her with a gun. The police immediately deployed a large contingent of patrol officers, the rapid intervention group and officers from the Cobra task force. At the scene, one of the suspects, a 52-year-old from the Feldkirchen district, literally ran into the arms of the uniformed officers in front of the house.
"Only" air pistol
The second suspected attacker was still in the woman's apartment and was also immediately placed in handcuffs. In the course of the operation, the officers also seized a BB gun.
While the 59-year-old main suspect from the district of Villach-Land was transported to the Villach police detention center, the second suspect was let go with a prohibition of approach and entry order. The investigation continued - especially as there were different versions of the incident.
Turn in the dramatic narrative
On Tuesday, the situation was completely different: The woman had faked the crime - the threat with the weapon - and had simply wanted to have her peace and quiet from the two gentlemen. "There will probably be charges," said a police officer.
Because faking a crime is not a trivial offense. She had also slandered the two men. It remains to be seen whether it will ultimately be a case of a deliberate operation and whether the costs will have to be borne.
It also remains to be seen who owns the weapon.
