Tourist (47) dies in skiing accident in Tyrol
There was a fatal skiing accident in Tyrol on Tuesday afternoon. A 47-year-old Dutchman went off the piste in Nauders in the Landeck district and crashed into a tree.
The tragic accident took place at around 2 p.m. in the middle of the Nauders ski area when the Dutchman skied off the piste for unknown reasons and crashed into a tree.
First aid by witnesses
According to the police, witnesses provided first aid and were later joined by the piste rescue team and an emergency doctor by helicopter. However, resuscitation measures were unsuccessful and were discontinued after half an hour. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
Second accident in the Tyrolean Ötztal
An accident on the slopes also occurred on Tuesday in Obergurgl in the municipality of Sölden in the Tyrolean Ötztal. An eight-year-old boy and a ten-year-old girl from Germany, who were skiing together in a group, collided on the descent. The girl was seriously injured, but the eight-year-old was unharmed. The ten-year-old was first treated by the piste rescue team and then flown to Zams hospital by emergency helicopter.
