Accident with a probationary driver’s license and a blood alcohol level of 1.6

The 19-year-old (ex-)test driver's license holder who caused an accident in Vorarlberg in the night from Friday to Saturday while under the influence of alcohol will probably not be behind the wheel of a vehicle for a long time.

Early Saturday morning at around 3.30 a.m., the 19-year-old drove off the Rheintal highway in Hörbranz coming from Bregenz. At the highway exit to the intersection with Allgäuer Straße, he steered his car directly into the traffic island located there and hit several traffic signs.

Escape after the crash
Instead of stopping, the young man decided to continue driving his damaged vehicle in the direction of Hohenweiler. Following information from witnesses, the owner of the probationary driving license was finally stopped in the vicinity by an alert police patrol.

According to the police, a breathalyzer test carried out on the young adult showed a level of over 1.6 per mille. His driver's license was confiscated on the spot. The badly damaged vehicle had to be towed away.
