Cancer patient dies after odyssey through 4 hospitals

The activity report of the Patient Advocate's Office once again relentlessly exposes problems in the Viennese healthcare system. The "Krone" newspaper presents excerpts from shocking individual cases, including dementia patients and coma patients.

"The effects of the shortage of nursing staff are increasingly being felt by elderly and palliative patients," the report states. The case of an elderly patient suffering from cancer is cited as an example. She had to change treatment hospitals four times because only day-clinic care was possible.
