Little hands lend a hand for a green Koralm line

34 girls and boys from kindergarten and elementary school in Neuhaus helped with planting in the area of the Jauntal bridge, which was modernized for the Koralm railroad.

"That was fun! We carried a bunch of pots and planted trees," says Marcel (5). The boy is just as excited as all the other children from kindergarten and elementary school. They have traveled by bus from Neuhaus to lend a hand with a planting campaign south of the Drau near Aich.

97 hectares are planted
"The children got their wellies ready days ago," says primary school principal Daniel Kosutnig. A greening and planting project is being carried out over an area of 97 hectares as part of the construction of the Koralm Railway line. The idea of involving children in the Jauntal bridge came from construction manager Gerhard Schett from ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG: "After tunnel and bridge construction, it's an experience to work outdoors with the children here."

The young tree sponsors were supported by the Maschinenring team, which is responsible for creating ecological compensation areas. The little ones were even allowed to get into the mini-excavator. The children want to come back to see if the bushes and trees grow. Farm boy Noah: "I've often planted trees with my dad."
