Oberwart Clinic
Hot phase begins after open days
The results of the open days at the new Oberwart Clinic are impressive: almost 25,000 people were interested in the region's most modern hospital, which will open on May 7. There were also a few thieves among them, but their forays will remain without consequences.
With around 25,000 visitors, the six open days at Oberwart Hospital were a complete success. "An event of this magnitude - against the backdrop of ongoing hospital operations in the old building and the imminent relocation - presented us with a major organizational challenge," says organizer Katrin Karner-Kalchbrenner, thanking all employees for their efforts. The exhibition trail with around 40 stations - including the Da Vinci surgical robot, a walk-in heart and intestine model, the rescue helicopter and emergency ambulances - was very popular with visitors of all ages, as were the free sausages and vegetarian burgers that were given away to visitors.
No repercussions for thieves
There was also talk behind closed doors that the open days were a little paradise for thieves, who took many a souvenir with them. There was talk of stolen surgical instruments, dressing materials and toys. When asked, Gesundheit Burgenland was told that these thefts would have no consequences and that they were all discarded products.
OP program is gradually being reduced
Meanwhile, the intensive phase of the move to the new clinic began at the start of the week with the gradual reduction of the planned surgical program. Outpatient appointments will also be suspended from April 23. From May 2 to 9, ambulances and helicopters will be diverted to nearby clinics. Emergency and acute care, especially for children and adolescents, births, oncology and dialysis, will continue. Patient operations in the new building will start on May 7. From May 13, operations and outpatient appointments will also take place in the new clinic.
