Maximilian (7) was resuscitated in an outdoor pool

Let's hope it ends well! Thanks to a perfect rescue chain, seven-year-old Maximilian was resuscitated after a drowning emergency in the Pfarrkirchen outdoor pool near Bad Hall on Wednesday afternoon. The boy was then flown to the children's hospital in Linz by the Martin 3 helicopter. 

The Steyr-Kirchdorf rescue control center was alerted at 1.44 pm: Drowning emergency at the Pfarrkirchen outdoor pool near Bad Hall! The boy was resuscitated by two off-duty intensive care nurses who happened to be there and two paramedics from the Bad Hall Red Cross.

The mother (37) was in the swimming pool with her three children and friends, whereby her seven-year-old son Maximilian, who had already completed two swimming courses, was able to swim freely. She and her son were in the pool together and he was swimming without a buoyancy aid because he wanted to practise swimming. He likes to dive while swimming.

Suddenly Maximilian stopped surfacing, he was no longer swimming at a proper pace. His mother immediately pulled him out of the water, saying that his body had gone limp at this point. Two nearby intensive care nurses rushed to the mother's aid and began resuscitating the boy.

The boy was intubated
The emergency doctor who arrived intubated the boy and stabilized him sufficiently so that he could be flown to MedCampus 3 in Linz by Martin 3.
