Slipped over an old snow field into the scree

A holidaymaker from Germany and her daughter set off on a hike in Carinthia on Saturday. For the 58-year-old, the day ended in hospital in Lienz.

The 58-year-old and her daughter (20) wanted to hike from the Naturfreundehaus Kolm Saigurn to the Fraganter Hütte - via the Sadnig-Höhenweg. But at around 3.30 p.m., the mother fell on an old snow field below the Rotwandeck at around 2,480 meters above sea level. The 58-year-old slid about five meters over the snow into a scree field, where she came to rest injured.

Her daughter alerted the emergency services. The C7 rescue helicopter team flew in to rescue the injured woman and took her to hospital in Lienz.
