“Dead man” busted during traffic check
The officers were astonished: the stopped driver bore little resemblance to the picture on the driver's license shown. After a brief investigation, it turned out that the owner of the license was already deceased. The "ghost driver" was reported several times.
On Tuesday at 3.15 pm, police officers carried out a traffic check in Neumarkt im Mühlviertel in Upper Austria. When a 58-year-old man from Grieskirchen was asked for his driver's license and vehicle documents, he handed the baffled officers a driver's license, which was immediately eyed suspiciously.
Dissimilar faces
The picture on the license bore little or no resemblance to the driver of the vehicle. During the subsequent check, it turned out that the owner of the license had already died.
Ten years without a license
When questioned, the driver stated that he had found the driving license in a pub and kept it so that he could show it at driving license checks. The 58-year-old had not had a driver's license for ten years. He was reported several times.
