65-year-old allegedly stole Audis in series

After several high-value cars were stolen in recent weeks, investigators have now been able to catch a 65-year-old man in the act as the suspected perpetrator: He was sitting in an Audi A5 stolen in Eberstalzell (Upper Austria), which he was driving towards the Czech Republic.

Recently, an increasing number of high-value vehicles have "disappeared" and, according to police information, investigators have already been able to establish a connection between them. On Thursday night, another car - an Audi A5 - was stolen in Eberstalzell following the same pattern.

Caught at the border
This time, however, a police patrol was able to locate the stolen car and stop it near the border with the Czech Republic. The driver, a 65-year-old Ukrainian, was arrested.

He initially refused to make any statement. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the suspected serial thief was taken to Linz prison.
