“Easter walk” on the sunny plateau above Wörgl

The pilgrimage church of Mariastein, perched spectacularly on a rock in the Lower Inn Valley, is the destination and highlight of our circular hike, on which the free-standing "Koasa" also presents itself from its best side.

A hike to a place of pilgrimage is ideal around Easter. We drive from Wörgl to Angerberg or Mariastein. There, on the sunny plateau, the parking lot is marked on the left in Embach. The spectacularly situated fortified tower with the pilgrimage church is already visible at the starting point. From here, walk back a few meters and at the bridge over the Moosbach - follow the signs for the Embachrunde.

We cross the enchanting plateau. At the last houses, the route then leads gently uphill between the edge of the forest and meadows to the north-east. The free-standing "Koasa" presents itself in front of us. The route continues in the same direction, with the road briefly ascending to the north at one point. At a fork in the route near a private property, stay on the top path, then cross the stream and turn right at the woodpile onto the cart path. This leads directly down into the forest.

We reach the plateau floor again on an access road (no longer follow the "Embachrunde" from here). On the other side of the road, we still have a few meters to climb to the pilgrimage church. A visit to the Chapel of Grace is absolutely worthwhile, a narrow spiral staircase leads up there - probably a hurdle for claustrophobics.
