A blow to the European drug scene in Tyrol: a Bulgarian truck was pulled out of circulation on the Inntal highway in the lowlands, in which 120 kilograms of marijuana worth around one million euros were being smuggled hidden between toilet paper.
In addition to the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Tyrolean Criminal Police Office, Bulgarian authorities were also involved in the investigation into the smuggling operation. This came to an end last Friday in the Tyrolean lowlands.
Seizure on the Inntal highway
"Officers from the freeway police managed to locate a Bulgarian articulated lorry on the A12 in the Wörgl area in the direction of Germany, which according to information was loaded with a large quantity of marijuana," said the investigators.
The truck was then diverted to a parking lot near Langkampfen and examined closely. A 47-year-old Bulgarian was at the wheel of the heavy vehicle.
Police dog sniffed out drugs
"The semi-trailer was loaded to the brim with toilet paper. A drug-sniffing dog from the Innsbruck police dog unit, which had been called in in the meantime, gave a clear indication in the area of the loading area," the investigators continued.
A narcotics sniffer dog from the Innsbruck police dog unit clearly detected the presence of narcotics in the area of the loading area.
