Police catch serial offender after 84 burglaries
Burglars were up to mischief in the districts of Klagenfurt, Klagenfurt-Land and St. Veit for a good year and a half. Between April 2022 and November 2023, they struck 84 times. Now one of the perpetrators has been caught.
Home and business owners in and around Klagenfurt and St. Veit can now sleep a little more soundly. After a series of burglaries had kept the police busy for months, they have now been able to arrest at least one of the perpetrators after extensive investigations.
400,000 euros property damage
"The 26-year-old Moldovan was arrested on November 3. Investigators have now been able to prove that he committed 84 burglaries," reports the police. "Cash amounting to several tens of thousands of euros was stolen during the break-ins. The investigation into another, as yet unknown, perpetrator is ongoing." In addition to the financial loss caused by the stolen cash, the damage to property amounting to around 400,000 euros is considerable.
The Moldovan, who was caught on a surveillance camera, is still keeping quiet about his motives. He is currently being held in Klagenfurt prison.
