The fact that two young people who were convicted of terrorism in Leoben provincial court in July 2023 are still at large outrages not only Krone readers, but also politicians. Both the FPÖ Styria and Governor Christopher Drexler are calling for tougher sentences.

The two "terror boys" are said to have planned an attack on the new secondary school in Bruck an der Mur in Upper Styria. They wanted to shoot all the Christians in their class. They were each sentenced to two years in prison, eight months of which were unconditional. So far, however, they have not had to serve their sentences, as reported by the "Krone" newspaper.

FPÖ demands "immediate imprisonment"
The Styrian FPÖ criticized in a press release on Thursday that it was "inconceivable that these dangerous radical Islamists, who planned an attack on a school, are walking around freely."

They are calling for the "immediate imprisonment of both perpetrators. ÖVP state governor Christopher Drexler is called upon to quickly approach the Green Justice Minister Alma Zadic and demand swift action," said Styrian FPÖ state party chairman and club leader Mario Kunasek.

Drexler: "Punishments that do justice to radicalism"
According to a statement from the office of Governor Drexler: "The fact that these two young people are at large underlines once again: punishments and measures are needed that do justice to radicalism".

He therefore wanted to renew his appeal to the Minister of Justice to impose harsher penalties in order to make it clear to such people that there is no room for such ideas in our country," said Drexler. It was also no longer acceptable that the relevant security authorities could not use all the possibilities to monitor the communication channels of extremists. He will continue to campaign for this.
