SPOÖ leader Alois Stöger
“Increasingly difficult to work with the ÖVP”
He served as a minister in three different roles from 2008 to 2017 and therefore has a wealth of experience in federal politics: according to Alois Stöger, now head of the regional SPÖ, his party is ready for coalition negotiations - even though he believes the ÖVP has lost a lot of credit.
The negotiations on the Zuckerl coalition: failed; the negotiations on blue-black: a flop. What now? Will the SPÖ's time as a governing party come after all? If former minister Alois Stöger has his way, definitely. His party is ready for negotiations, says the interim SPÖ leader in an interview with the "Krone" - with the ÖVP, NEOS and the Greens.
"All four parties must now talk to each other at the weekend, and if there are appropriate signals, we will negotiate with all of them." But what would the SPÖ have to do in this case so that the ÖVP and NEOS don't throw in the towel prematurely again?
