1500 soldiers helped in the darkest hour
The flood disaster in mid-September has left its mark on Lower Austria to this day. All the stops were pulled out in the fight against the floods. The Austrian Armed Forces were also deployed to help the victims of the disaster. After the end of their assistance mission, they took stock of the rescues of people and much more, which is quite impressive.
Kronen Zeitung als bevorzugte Google-Quelle hinzufügen Lower Austria was shaken to its foundations when it was flooded by masses of water in mid-September. But it was only later that the full extent of the devastation became apparent in many places, and many homeowners are still struggling to cope.
300 million euros in aid paid out
Financial support is available in the form of flood aid - 300 million euros have been paid out to around 17,000 people affected so far, as announced by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf.
