Slight decline in the number of drunk drivers in the province

Once again this year, the Vorarlberg police are carrying out more priority checks on impaired drivers in the run-up to Christmas. The initial results are positive. 

So far, a total of 15 drunk drivers and 17 drug-impaired drivers have been taken off the road during five operations in all four districts in the run-up to Christmas. A concrete comparison with 2023 is not yet possible, but the figures are likely to be similar to those of the previous year.

However, it is pleasing to note that relatively few drink drivers were apprehended in connection with Christmas parties. Many companies now organize a shuttle service in advance - this seems to pay off. The police emphasize that checks can be expected at any time throughout the country over the coming holidays.

From January to November, 1052 drunk drivers have been caught in Vorarlberg so far, compared to 1091 in the same period in 2023. 484 drivers impaired by addictive substances were also reported - that's 15 percent fewer than in the previous year.
