Dangerous finds: pyrotechnics seized in Vienna

In the course of a special operation at the weekend, Vienna police officers found and seized numerous prohibited pyrotechnic items and prohibited weapons. These included two brass knuckles, a switchblade knife and numerous dangerous fireworks.

On Friday, 886 prohibited pyrotechnic items of categories F3 and F4 with prohibited flash-bang sets were seized in the cellar of a residential building in Vienna-Brigittenau.

Stored without the mother's knowledge
Due to the considerable risk of explosion, a team from the explosives department of the Vienna police took over the removal of the dangerous materials. The 18-year-old son of the tenant, who had stored the pyrotechnics there without his mother's knowledge, was charged under the Pyrotechnics Act.

Brass knuckles and switchblade knives seized
On Saturday, officers in Vienna-Floridsdorf seized a total of 103 prohibited pyrotechnic articles of classes F3 and F4 with unauthorized flashbangs as well as two brass knuckles and a switchblade knife.

The items were found on young people aged between 14 and 18. The young people were charged under the Pyrotechnics Act and the Weapons Act.
