Paraglider “landed” on a 30-metre-high larch tree

A 26-year-old female paraglider had imagined this flight in the Zillertal valley differently - especially the landing. Mayrhofen Mountain Rescue freed the local woman from her airy "prison" high up in a tree.

The local woman wanted to fly her paraglider from the Steinerkogel launch site in Brandberg down to the landing site in Mayrhofen at around 12.30 pm on Friday. But the sportswoman didn't get that far.

Knot in a line
Presumably due to a knot in one of the glider's lines, the glider pulled to the left and grazed the 30-metre-high larch tree soon after take-off. The glider and the pilot got stuck in it at a dizzying height of around 25 meters.

Climbing mountain rescuer
The Mayrhofen mountain rescue team then deployed nine men. A mountain rescuer climbed - secured - to the woman 25 meters above the ground. He managed to bring the uninjured local woman safely to the ground. After two and a half hours, the operation was over.
