Fierce head-on crash in Tyrol: drugs involved?

Spectacular accident early Monday evening in the Tyrolean lowlands: A driver (28) drove into the oncoming lane in Langkampfen (Kufstein district) and crashed head-on into the car of a 29-year-old local woman. The woman suffered injuries. According to the police, the person suspected of causing the accident was probably impaired.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. on the L212 in Oberlangkampfen. The 28-year-old local man had driven his car into the oncoming lane. "Despite an attempted evasive maneuver by the oncoming 29-year-old female driver, the cars collided head-on," said the police.

Woman injured and taken to hospital
The woman's car went over the edge of the road and came to a halt a few meters off the country road in the meadow there. The 29-year-old suffered injuries. After first aid, she was taken to Kufstein District Hospital by ambulance. The 28-year-old was uninjured.

The man's driver's license was temporarily confiscated on the spot.

Driver apparently impaired
Both cars sustained considerable material damage. The man suspected of causing the accident was reported to the Kufstein police station "in connection with impairment due to narcotics or medication when driving the vehicle", the investigators continued.
