Truck drove through the Lermoos tunnel on a red light

A 42-year-old Albanian truck driver was traveling from southern Italy to Holland and back with two driver cards and had repeatedly failed to comply with driving and rest times.

Because the truck of the Albanian (42) triggered the height control before the Lermoos Tunnel on Saturday, the tunnel was switched to "red". This caused a traffic jam to form in front of the tunnel's north portal. However, the red light did not prevent the driver from driving past the queue and even through the tunnel.

Police officers were astonished
When the 42-year-old then stopped at the nearest parking lot, he was checked by a patrol from Nassereith police station. The officers were quite astonished: it turned out that he was using someone else's driver card and had driven from southern Italy to Holland and back again with two driver cards.

Further travel prohibited.
In doing so, he had seriously violated driving and rest times on several occasions. The police prohibited the driver from continuing his journey and collected a security deposit. Reports to the public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck and the BH will follow.
