The desire to have children: what yoga, hypnosis and co. can do
When faced with an unfulfilled desire to have children, many people resort to methods that seem strange, at least at first: Yoga, meditation, homeopathy, etc. Do such things really help to increase fertility and what does conventional medicine think of them? We have asked!
Women and couples who are desperate to have children attach great importance to integrative or alternative medicine, says Prof. Dr. Peter Frigo, a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics at MedUni Vienna: "Around a third of fertility patients use alternative methods." Among them: Yoga, massage, Ayurveda, hypnosis, homeopathy, acupuncture, etc.
"Around 30 percent of those affected use yoga, 20 percent massage and the rest are divided between the other methods," the expert reports from practical experience. But how are these things supposed to help?
