Cobra operation: 53-year-old threatened stepdaughter

A 21-year-old woman in Carinthia told police on Sunday night that her stepfather had choked her, pushed her against a wall and threatened her. And he had numerous firearms in the house. The rapid intervention group and the Cobra task force were deployed to the house in the Feldkirchen district.

At around 11.45 pm on Saturday, a family get-together in a house in the Feldkirchen district escalated: A 21-year-old woman reported assault and making dangerous threats. Her stepfather, a 53-year-old German, had choked her, pushed her against a wall and threatened her, saying that he had firearms in the house and that her mother was also nearby and possibly in danger. 

The Cobra task force and the police rapid intervention unit were deployed immediately.

The suspect barricaded himself in a room, which he darkened. He was initially uncooperative. But then the officers came to the gun cabinet, where they found and seized four long guns and two handguns, two knives, thousands of rounds of ammunition and an illegal knuckleduster.

The suspect was banned from entering and approaching the premises and a temporary weapons ban was issued.

The stepdaughter went to Villach Regional Hospital on her own, where no injuries were found. The investigation is still ongoing. The Bodensdorf police are also working on the case.
