Man and woman in mortal danger after serious accident

After a violent crash in Vienna-Donaustadt on Thursday evening, a 78-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man are in mortal danger. The couple had crashed their vehicle into another car. The occupants of the other car were also injured.

The terrible accident occurred at around 7.30 p.m. in Gewerbeparkstraße. According to the Vienna police, one of the two cars was traveling at a very high speed. A moment later, there was a collision with the other vehicle, which was trying to turn left into a parking lot.

Car crashed into lamp post
The car driving straight ahead overturned as a result of the collision and subsequently crashed into a lamp post (see photo). "The occupants of the turning car, a 78-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man, were critically injured", police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger said on Friday. The accident victims were rescued from the vehicles. The two senior citizens were quickly taken to hospital. A rescue helicopter was also deployed.

The two occupants of the overturned car - a woman (19) and a man (21) - were only slightly injured in the crash. The traffic accident command immediately took over the investigation into the course of the accident. "The 21-year-old was charged with suspected negligent bodily harm in road traffic," said Haßlinger. Gewerbeparkstraße was closed to vehicle traffic for the duration of the operation.
