Another shortage of doctors at Mistelbach Regional Hospital
The staffing problems at the Mistelbach-Gänserndorf regional hospital are continuing: according to information from "Krone", the head of the trauma surgery department at the main hospital, Primar Ralf Burgstaller, has thrown in the towel. This was finally confirmed on Monday by the regional health agency when asked.
"Head Ralf Burgstaller will be leaving the hospital at the end of August for personal reasons," the LGA informed the "Krone" on request. Before the doctor took over his management role at the Mistelbach-Gänserndorf Regional Hospital on 1 May 2021, he was interim head of the newly created Department of Traumatology and Orthopaedics at Amstetten Regional Hospital.
Next problem case after ENT crisis
This is not the first crisis to cause difficulties for the hospital due to staff departures. It was only at the beginning of March that the Weinviertel hospital was forced to make serious cuts to its ENT department following the departure of six (!) specialists. Following a reorganization, serious operations and those where there is an increased risk of bleeding have to be "outsourced" to the Krems hospital.
According to the Provincial Health Agency, preparations for an orderly succession have already begun.
