despite Föhn storm
Easter bonfires blazed throughout Salzburg on Saturday
In St. Margarethen, the little ones took care of the tradition this year. Together with their parents, they built an impressive wooden tower, which was lit at a late hour.
It was built by dads Chris, Rainer and Joe together with the Pichling children Xaver, Florian, Magdalena, Valentina, Lorenz, Miriam and Finn. "Lived customs touch the heart and create community" - and you can't start early enough, according to the youngest children aged between 3 and 11. The children also took over the rattling, as a replacement for the church bells that were flown to Rome, this year for Easter.
In St. Michael, the Höf customs group set up a completely hand-built, ten-metre-high Easter bonfire for the 7th time. A total of eight people between the ages of 7 and 25 helped to prepare the Easter bonfire over the last few weeks. Traditionally, a fire watch was held on the night of Holy Saturday. This means that the fire was watched all night to ensure that it was not deliberately lit.
