FPÖ finalizes list of 42 candidates for EU elections

The FPÖ presented its candidates for the EU elections in June on Monday (see video above). Top candidate Harald Vilimsky has been known for some time, as has the candidacy of Petra Steger in second place. A total of 42 people are now on the party's list.
Vilimsky believes that up to seven seats are possible, as he said at a press conference on Monday. The politician referred to opinion polls. Vilimsky once again announced "resistance to this madness in Brussels" and hopes for an increased presence after the election. Nevertheless, he wants to "slim down" the Parliament, Commission and bureaucracy. In addition, a seat in the "traveling circus between Brussels and Strasbourg should be abolished", he said on Monday.
"Loss of freedom" and "heteronomy"
The blue European policy is directed against the "loss of freedom", "foreign domination", "warmongering" and "mass migration" from Africa and the Arab world, said Austria's FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl. "We will no longer put up with this." The party wants to turn towards the people, but away from "self-absorbed (...) political elites who are far removed from reality".

A total of 42 candidates are on the FPÖ's list for the EU elections. After Vilimsky, Petra Steger, Member of the National Council, is in second place, followed by the previous EU mandataries Georg Mayer and Roman Haider. In fifth place is the Tyrolean Member of the National Council Gerald Hauser and in sixth place the Carinthian teacher Elisabeth Dieringer-Granza.
The top 10 is completed by Salzburg farmer Peter Schmiedlechner, hotel manager Robin Raudaschl from Upper Austria, police officer Joachim Fritz from Vorarlberg and army officer Michael Gmeindl from Burgenland.
Vilimsky as the "locomotive"
"With our group leader in the EU Parliament Harald Vilimsky, we not only have a proven number one in the election campaign, but also the locomotive to win this election with the best content, the best candidates and the best team," Kickl is convinced.
