Coach search at Lazio
Sarri out in Rome! Former Altach coach coming?
Maurizio Sarri has probably resigned as coach of Lazio Rome. Former Bayern striker Miroslav Klose, who played for Lazio himself, is now being discussed as his successor. He was most recently coach at SCR Altach.
The Italian first division soccer team Lazio Rome must look for a new coach. According to a report in the sports newspaper "Gazzetta dello Sport" and other Italian media, current coach Maurizio Sarri announced his departure on Tuesday.
The 65-year-old Italian has been in charge of Serie A's ninth-placed side since the summer of 2021, having recently suffered defeat in the Champions League round of 16 and three consecutive defeats in the league, including a 2-1 loss to Udinese on Monday.
Is Klose coming now?
There was no official confirmation at first. The contract, reportedly worth four million euros per year, with the second major Italian capital club alongside AS Roma was actually due to run until mid-2025, but Sarri has already cleared his locker, wrote the "Gazzetta".
Former Lazio striker and 2014 German world champion Miroslav Klose is also being discussed as a successor. The 45-year-old has not worked as a coach since the end of his tenure at SCR Altach in mid-March 2023.
