Tip against coach
Automatically saved draft
Man United legend Gary Neville was full of praise for outgoing Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp after the top match against Manchester City (1:1). However, he couldn't resist making a small point. Admittedly not meant entirely seriously ...
"I wish he wasn't Liverpool coach and I'm happy when he's gone - from a selfish perspective. Because as long as he's here, Liverpool have a great chance of being successful," said the Sky UK pundit after the spectacular 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Manchester City.
Klopp "a huge character"
Both Pep Guardiola and Klopp are "incredible coaches". But: "I've always leaned a little more towards Klopp. He has great resources, but less than Guardiola. The way he plays soccer is more the way I see soccer. Pep is an absolute genius, but Klopp is such a great personality. A huge character," said Neville, comparing the German to coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson, under whom Neville played his entire career.
Ferguson had "that ability to connect with the people at Old Trafford", said the former United defender. He believes that "Klopp is doing the same for Liverpool".
While Neville would like to see Klopp leave the big coaching stage at the end of the season, he said it would be a "bitter loss" for Liverpool and the English league as a whole.
