Victory by knockout.
Joshua knocks out opponent in the second round
It was a clear-cut affair. Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua knocked out his opponent, former UEF champion Francis Ngannou, in the second round on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia.
It was only Ngannou's second professional boxing match. He lost his first against Tyson Fury in October. While it was a very close affair back then, Ngannou did not see any water against Joshua on Saturday night. The Cameroonian took a heavy beating in the very first round, going down early, but was able to recover.
Right hammer - and out
It continued in the same vein. Ngannou also went down in the second round and got up again. But the third time was the end. Joshua sent his opponent to the floor with a right hammer. Out and over. The end of a short fight.
34 million for Joshua
For Ngannou, it was the second knockout ever in his entire martial arts career. However, the compensation for the pain and suffering should be enough. According to media reports, he is said to have collected more than 21 million dollars for the short show, winner Joshua almost 34 million. Any after-effects of the fight will probably soon fade away.
Congratulations from Mourinho and Ronaldo
Practically the first two people to congratulate Joshua were two celebrities: Jose Mourinho and Ronaldo (the Brazilian) watched the fight live on site, with Mourinho shaking Joshua's hand while he was still in the ring.
In any case, the spectacle was a success.
