Man was lucky
Tyrolean drunk driver “parked” car in stream
A drunken driver in St. Johann in Tirol (Kitzbühel district) triggered a rescue operation on Monday evening with a spectacular traffic accident. The 34-year-old fell into a stream and was unable to free himself. Nevertheless, the man had a stroke of luck.
The 34-year-old from the district of Kufstein wanted to turn off the Loferer Bundesstraße towards Erpfendorf shortly after 9 pm on Monday when he lost control of his vehicle for an as yet unexplained reason. The Unterländer first knocked over a traffic sign and then broke through the crash barrier, causing the car to crash into the Wieshofer Mühlbachl.
Drunk driver without a license
The fire department, ambulance and water rescue services were then called out. They extricated the driver from the wreck and treated him on site. Fortunately, the 34-year-old was not injured in the accident. However, he was heavily intoxicated. Nevertheless, the man's driver's license could not be taken from him, as he did not have one.
His vehicle sustained serious material damage. In addition, part of the crash barrier had to be removed in order to recover the car.
