Serial burglar caught after clues in hotel

He traveled to the crime scenes by train and is said to be responsible for a total of 30 burglaries in several federal states. The wanted 58-year-old has now been caught: Following tips from the public, he was apprehended in a hotel in Vienna.

At around 138,000 euros, the damage is even greater than the loot. Since summer 2024, a 58-year-old Austrian is said to have committed 30 burglaries. In Upper Austria, the serial thief struck three times in Attnang-Puchheim and seven times in Seewalchen. The criminal was also up to mischief several times in Lower Austria and Salzburg.

The last burglary was committed by the 58-year-old - he usually traveled to the crime scenes by train - two days before Christmas.

Arrested in the hotel
And now the handcuffs have clicked for the wanted man. After the "Krone" newspaper, among others, called for tips on the serial burglar to be handed in to the police, numerous tips were actually received from the public. And so, on Tuesday evening, an arrest was made in a Viennese hotel: Cobra was able to arrest the 58-year-old.

The suspect refused to make a statement and was taken to prison by order of the St. Pölten public prosecutor's office. Investigations into possible further offenses are ongoing.
