Salzburg Airport increases passenger numbers

Salzburg Airport takes stock and looks to the future: passenger numbers exceeded the 1.7 million mark in 2024. Only 3.2 percent short of the pre-corona record. 

In the previous year, 10.7 percent more guests were counted. That's 1,787,169 passengers. "We have almost reached the 2018 figures again," says airport boss Bettina Ganghofer happily. Only 57,000 travelers are still missing to break the record. 

Snow brings good booking situation
The airport management is also satisfied with the current winter season. "Salzburg attracts a diverse range of international guests from Germany, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Turkey and the Arab countries in winter," says Ganghofer. The airport employs almost 1,300 people.

Major investments were made in 2024, 2025 is the planning year
Outlook for the future: intensive planning for the terminal expansion will begin in 2025, with construction due to start in 2026. Around 105 million euros are to be invested in the modernization of the airport with the construction of a new terminal. 

Around 8 million euros were invested in the 2024 financial year. The largest items relate to the multi-storey parking lot, new security screening equipment and initial plans for the conversion and new building. 

Outlook towards summer
Salzburg Airport is once again offering a wide range of destinations in its summer flight schedule. In addition to classics such as Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Sardinia and Corsica, new destinations such as Barcelona and Alicante have also been added.
