Why Christmas parties are complicated for landlords

Christmas parties in Viennese restaurants are well-booked, but cancellations are causing frustration for landlords. Losses in turnover can no longer be made up. One restaurateur reports on the changed behavior of his guests.

The booking situation for Christmas parties in Vienna is encouraging this year. After celebrations were slow to resume following the coronavirus pandemic, 31% of venues are now more than 80% fully booked. Income from Christmas parties is of great economic importance for almost two thirds of Viennese restaurants.
