Renan’s hat-trick made the Bregenz team rejoice

There was great satisfaction in Bregenz as the Black & Whites dispatched Kapfenberg 4-0 in the top-of-the-table second division match to regain fourth place in the table. Renan played a key role in the clear victory, with the Brazilian striker scoring a hat-trick.

And the Falcons had nothing to play for in the state capital. "They were very keen on tackles, which surprised me a little," said SW coach Regi van Acker, "but my players didn't get involved. They made very good decisions in the game."

Renan had put the home side ahead after just over 20 minutes, the Brazilian reacting quickest after a serious blunder by the KSV defense. But the center forward did not stop there. He scored twice more from the penalty spot, and twice he confidently slammed the ball low into the middle to take his tally to six goals for the season.

Only one KSV chance
 "After the 3:0, the game was obviously decided. But KSV could also have made it 1:1, then things might have been different," said Van Acker. But the visitors' only real chance was missed by striker Hofleitner, while Bregenz attacker Marcel Monsberger scored the final goal to make it 4-0.
