Ski enthusiasts rejoice: a low pressure system has brought up to 20 centimetres of fresh snow to the Karawanken. This means an early start to the season on the Gerlitzen and Turrach.

A low pressure system covered Carinthia in white on Friday night. Even in Klagenfurt and Lower Carinthia there were nine centimeters of white splendor. On the mountains, the snowfall even ensured that the first lifts were able to start operating.

The weather played along
The Neugarten carving slope on the Gerlitzen started operating on Saturday. "Thanks to the ideal weather conditions and the tireless efforts of our dedicated Gerlitzen team, we were able to bring forward the start of the season," says Kanzelbahnen authorized signatory Manuel Kapeller Hopfgartner. This means that the season has started two weeks earlier than planned.

Work on the slopes on the Gerlitzen will continue next week. The main axes of the ski area are scheduled to open on November 30th!

The first turns in the snow were also possible on the Turracher Höhe on Saturday. The Wildkopfbahn, which is almost 600 meters long, opened for business. In combination with the glorious sunshine, numerous skiers naturally took advantage of the early start to the season.

Skiing has been possible on the Mölltal Glacier since October. Most Carinthian ski resorts then plan their openings in December.
