Climate bonus: “Lowering prices would make more sense!”

The topic of the climate bonus is a hot topic in Austria. It is actually intended to provide financial relief - yet it is repeatedly criticized. The main criticism is the "watering can principle". Recently, however, it is the staggering of the payment according to the connection to the public transport system in particular that has upset some people. When it comes to the climate bonus in general, there is relative agreement. The majority of readers, like dadenka, see it as pointless and would have no problem with it being abolished, as Wifo boss Gabriel Felbermayr and IHS Director Holger Bonin suggest to the Ministry. Some also link this demand to the abolition of the CO₂ tax. For them, the two go hand in hand.

"Prisoners should have no entitlement"
 There is also a clear opinion on the aforementioned watering can principle. In particular, the fact that prisoners also receive the climate bonus is seen by a large proportion as unfair - a change is desired here. Garnfdertolle also suggested an improvement to the climate ticket.

Tax and price reductions would be more effective
For most people, it is clear that the problem is being tackled from the wrong side. They see a reduction in taxes and prices as a better idea. For them, the climate bonus is just "window dressing". Krone reader2631196 , for example, suggests a more targeted use of the money and refers to renaturation projects in this regard.
