The execution of a mother of two

In April 2021, a young nurse from Vienna was shot dead by the father of her two children. "On the day our beloved daughter had to die," lament the victim's parents, "our lives were destroyed forever."

In a cozy apartment in Vienna's Brigittenau district. Decorative upholstery, comfortable couches, pieces of furniture made by cabinetmakers; colorful walls on which - just like on shelves - pictures hang and stand in magnificent frames. Of a seemingly happy extended family.

"We really were happy once," sobs Slobodanka M. (58). She and her husband had done so much to build a secure existence for themselves and their three children after emigrating from Serbia to Austria decades ago. Here, in their new home.

"We've always worked hard," says Borivoje M. (60) to his wife. He as a janitor, she as a cleaner. The two sons, the daughter, "they never gave us any trouble, always studied well at school and then completed good apprenticeships."

"She was our princess"
Her only girl, "our princess", first became a dental assistant, later a nurse: "She wanted to help others from an early age, she was such a particularly good person."

Marija M. was only 35 years old; she was literally executed on the evening of 29 April 2021 with two pistol shots in her apartment in Wiwarski Hof - just a few hundred meters from her parents' home as the crow flies. The perpetrator: Albert L., the father of her two children.
