The Austrian Alpine Association is calling for a rescue package of 95 million euros from the state for mountain huts and trails. Otherwise there is a threat of massive consequences for the alpine infrastructure in the local Alps - and especially in Tyrol.

The effects of climate change are having a massive impact on hiking trails and (mountain) huts in the Austrian mountains. The Austrian Alpine Association (ÖAV) therefore sounded the alarm at a press conference on the occasion of its annual general meeting. "The severe weather events in September once again gave us a foretaste of what we will have to prepare for in the mountains in the coming years," said ÖAV President Wolfgang Schnabl.
