For the National Council elections on September 29, almost 1.44 million Austrians cast their votes by postal vote. This also led to an increase in administrative costs. After 1.44 million polling cards cost local authorities a lot of money and effort, they are calling for the option of e-voting. "Yes, but ...", says "Krone" cyber expert Dr. Cornelius Granig - and warns against manipulation.
Many things can get in the way on election Sunday. A long-planned vacation, a visit to friends and relatives in other federal states. Or simply not feeling like getting dressed and going to the polling station. A circumstance that led to the introduction of polling cards back in 2007.
