Ten fire departments battled against roof truss fire

In the night of Friday, October 4, around 1:20 a.m., ten fire departments in the area of the municipality of Eidenberg were alerted with the alarm text "Flames coming out of the roof truss".  

A fire broke out on the former farm shortly after 1.20 am. The family and neighbors were still asleep, said Markus Weixlbaumer, commander of the Eidenberg fire department: "The homeowner heard the noises and his neighbor had just woken up." The neighbor immediately called the emergency services, while the homeowner brought his family to safety.

The Eidenberg, Geng, Berndorf, Zwettl an der Rodl, Oberneukirchen, Gramastetten, Neusserling, Kirchschlag bei Linz, Kronabittedt and Lichtenberg fire departments were immediately deployed to the scene. Emergency services and the police were also deployed. The Zwettl an der Rodl fire department provided support with the telescopic mast platform during the extinguishing work and the EFU unit, together with section commander Kurt Reiter, assisted with incident command and situation assessment, according to Thomas Traxler from the Ottensheim section fire brigade command.

The cause of the fire is still unclear and the operation is still ongoing.
