Musk has not yet paid the fine in Brazil

In Brazil, the Supreme Court on Friday referred Elon Musk's social media platform X to unpaid fines amounting to five million dollars. According to a court document, the blocking of the platform in Brazil can only be lifted once the debt has been repaid.

However, the company and its legal representative in Brazil still have to agree to the fines imposed by Judge Alexandre de Moraes X. In his ruling, the judge said that the court could use the funds already frozen from X and Starlink accounts in Brazil.

However, Starlink must withdraw its appeal against the freezing of funds. The fines amount to 3.4 million dollars and a further fine of 1.8 million dollars, which was added because X was available again to some users in Brazil for a short period last week.

Musk's company did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The platform has been blocked in Brazil, one of its largest and most coveted markets, since late August after Judge Moraes ruled that the company had failed to comply with orders to restrict hate speech, among other things, and failed to appoint a new legal representative for the company for Brazil.
