“Europe has long been digitally colonized”

Data is the new gold, they say. But Europe has long since lost sovereignty over it and sovereignty is suffering. Key technologies come from US companies, from Google to Microsoft and Intel. Now cyber specialist Joe Pichlmayr announces a new security solution in an interview with Krone that should make Europe more independent in the long term.

Europe has put a lot in the hands of the Americans. "And the thinking seems to be: as long as everything is blissful, nothing bad can happen," says Joe Pichlmayr, CEO of IT company Ikarus, in an interview with "Krone". But what happens if a conflict suddenly breaks out between Europe and the USA? In any case, harmony between the two superpowers is not set in stone for the next few decades.
