An accident tragedy shakes the 26th Bike Week in Faak am See: a motorcyclist and his wife from Burgenland are killed in a head-on crash on the country road in Rosegg.

According to the authorities and police, the 26th European Bike Week around Lake Faak was still running smoothly until Friday evening. Especially in terms of traffic - so far there had only been "a few bikers with injuries". At around 5.15 p.m., however, a terrible drama surrounding the internationally popular festival caused a commotion: a head-on crash occurred on the country road near Rosegg.

"For reasons as yet unknown, a motorcyclist and his companion on the pillion took a right-hand bend into the left-hand lane and crashed head-on into an oncoming car," as the police reported to the Krone newspaper. All help came too late for the biker couple from Burgenland (both 63 years old). Despite courageous first aid measures by a doctor who happened to be present, the victims succumbed to their serious injuries at the scene of the accident.

Unsuccessful overtaking maneuver?
The driver of the car involved survived the crash unharmed, but suffered a shock. The investigation into the course of the accident is ongoing. According to unconfirmed "Krone" information, however, the blue Harley had already collided with a vehicle from the side before the fatal head-on crash.
