Police take stock: “It was remarkably quiet”

The police have now taken stock after the big weekend of events in Vienna - with the Coldplay concerts, the Neustifter Kirtag and the Stammersdorf Wine Days, which were attended by more than 400,000 people in total. Of these, 250,000 attended the four Coldplay concerts in the Ernst Happel Stadium alone.

It was a weekend of superlatives in Vienna - around 400,000 people attended the four Coldplay concerts and the Neustifter Kirtag. The Stammersdorf Wine Days and the Austria v LASK soccer match also took place. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) and Xenia Zauner, Head of the Vienna Police Department, took stock on Monday. From a police point of view, the outcome was extremely positive.

"It was an intensive weekend for the police. Our colleagues were faced with major tasks. But we were able to celebrate peacefully and cheerfully," explained Karner. Between 400 and 600 police officers were deployed.

There were a total of 62 criminal charges. These included property offenses, assaults, fights and a sexual offense, reported Zauner. In addition, around 270 administrative charges were filed and five people were arrested under administrative law. There are currently no new findings regarding the alleged rape on the fringes of the Neustift Kirtag, it was reported.
