Fall from horse: Woman injured in riding accident

Serious riding accident on Saturday afternoon in Tyrol. A horse stepped into a swampy area on the banks of Lake Walchsee (Kufstein district) and lost its balance. The 22-year-old rider was thrown off and had to be flown to Innsbruck Hospital.

The 22-year-old local woman was riding her horse on the northern shore of Lake Walchsee at a walking pace on the gravel path heading north at around 4.45 pm on Saturday when the horse suddenly kicked its left front hoof to the left into boggy ground and lost its balance. "The rider then fell forward onto the meadow floor," according to the police.

No third-party fault
The young woman suffered serious injuries in the fall. After first aid, she was flown to Innsbruck Hospital by emergency helicopter. "The possibility of third-party fault can be ruled out," emphasized the police. The rescue team, the water rescue service and a police patrol were deployed.
