Construction giant backs down on housing estate project

The protests of the residents of the South Tyrolean housing estate in the Salzburg district of Liefering are having an effect. The large-scale project is now being redesigned with many improvements. Significantly more subsidized rental apartments are also to be built.

The residents of the Südtiroler Siedlung housing estate in Salzburg have been very worried over the past two years. New buildings are to be built there. Existing tenants were to be "persuaded" to move out using sometimes questionable methods. The construction giant Buwog even tried to have the open-ended rental contracts terminated - without success.

The "Krone" reported in detail on the developments. After months of stagnation, there is now movement on the issue again.
